1. Product Description

The TAC Xenta 401:B is a microprocessor-based controller designed for heating and air handling systems. Unlike the standard 401 model, the 401:B does not support the connection of TAC Xenta 400 I/O modules. Instead, it is optimized to act as a central hub or "Data Manager" that coordinates other LonWorks nodes, manages time schedules, handles alarms, and logs data across a network.

It is programmed using the graphical tool TAC Menta and communicates via the LonTalk TP/FT-10 protocol.

• Master Scheduler: Coordinating time-based events (occupancy, holidays) for a large network of decentralized devices.

• Gateway to TAC Vista: Acting as the primary communication link between a field network and the TAC Vista BMS workstation.

• No I/O Support: Crucial Note: You cannot connect TAC Xenta 400 I/O modules (like 411, 421, etc.) to a 401:B. If physical I/O expansion is needed, you must use the standard TAC Xenta 401 instead.

• Wiring: Ensure the LonTalk network is correctly terminated with the proper resistors to avoid communication reflections.

• Polarity: While LonTalk TP/FT-10 is generally non-polarized, always double-check the 24V power wiring to prevent damage.

• Environment: The unit is designed for cabinet mounting; ensure adequate ventilation and protection from high humidity.
